Earth Day Events Across the Moseley Nation

April 22, 2016 marks the 46th annual Earth Day, a global movement toward greener living, sustainability, and respect for nature.

As we do every year, we will be organizing a neighborhood cleanup at the Richmond office, and will hold our annual Earth Day electronics shutdown event to promote awareness of how you can reduce energy use right at your desk. We may even have a friendly competition among offices!

 8th Annual Ballantyne Earth Day Event

Network with local business and get tips on how to adopt a sustainable lifestyle while enjoying music, tasty lunch options, and other fun activities. Free document shredding and electronic or medical equipment recycling is available.

2016 Gardening Symposium

Fairfax Office

Workhouse Arts Center, 9518 Workhouse Way, Lorton

Over 75 vendors, exhibitors, and food trucks will be at this free festival produced by Clean Fairfax and Fairfax County Park Authority. Learn about ladybugs, ride a pony, try a fun run, check out the bees, consult with master gardeners, buy plants, and more.

Earth Day 2016 in Washington DC

The Washington, DC metropolitan area has a variety of Earth Day activities that make caring for the planet fun for all ages. Activities are planned at the National Mall, Union Station, Potomac and Anacostia Rivers, and National Zoo. You can attend a family event that includes learning ways to improve our environment and make a difference or pitch in and help clean up any of the region’s parks. Events take place throughout the month of April.

 Live & Local: Earth Day 2016

Saturday April 9, 2PM – 10 PM

Compiegne Park, 2300 Hillsborough Street, Raleigh

The event will feature three stages, a kids zone, bouncy houses and food trucks. Additionally, multiple kids craft stations will be placed throughout Compiegne Park where families will enjoy building and painting birdhouses out of old gallon jugs and windsocks from recycled material.

NC State Earth Fair

An epic, Earth-focused fair on Earth Day with dozens of exhibits, demonstrations and ideas on how you can make the world a better place. Sponsored by NC State Sustainability Office.

Richmond Office

Richmond Earth Day Festival

Enjoy local food and drink, a craft market, outdoor gear swap, and family activities along the James River, including the 5K Race Without a Trace.

Earth Day Camp In at the Science Museum

Friday April 22 at 6:00 PM – Saturday April 23

Science Museum of Virginia, 2500 W. Broad Street, Richmond

This overnight adventure allows children to experience engaging live science activities such as water cycle activities, make your own windmill, and watch “Pandas: The Journey Home” in the IMAX Dome. Registration and fees apply.

Earth Day & Stewardship Virginia – New Pollinator Garden

Saturday April 23, 9 AM – 1 PM

Pocahontas State Park Heritage Center, 1031 State Park Road, Chesterfield

Pocahontas State Park will be planting a new pollinator and sensory garden near the nature center. Please bring gloves if you have them (we can provide a few), water, and lunch. Snacks and tools will be provided. Please register for this event with the main park office.  Volunteering to help with the pollinator garden is also part of Stewardship Virginia campaign. Each participant will earn a certificate from the governor for their participation.

Roanoke Office

Earth Day Roanoke

Saturday April 23; 10 AM – 3 PM

River’s Edge North, Reserve Avenue

This year’s celebration is paired with a fundraiser and festival for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. There will be plenty of environmental education displays, as well as local food, green crafts and live music. Admission is $5 and proceeds benefit children’s hospital care.

Virginia Beach Office
